Top Five Tips for Choosing a Secure Password

July 27th, 2008 · No Comments

Lock Your Data With Secure Passwords!

1. Your password should not be related to you in any way, like your real name, hometown, birthday, your pet’s name or anything like that. Someone who knew you (Work partner, ex) can possibly steal your password by trying to use those things.

2. Do not use simple words that can be found in a dictionary as you password because hackers can use a script in guessing your passwords using those definitions.

3. Do not use sequential numbers either.

4. Longer passwords work a whole lot better than shorter ones.

5. It is best to have a combination of numbers and word terms, instead of just one or another. Another good tactic would be to combine your password with special characters. For example, “w3dn3sd4y” (Wednesday) and “h@m3a10n3” (Home Alone).
