Just about a month ago I have written an entry about my love for this fairly new emerging electronic genre called minimal techno. I’m always on the look out for new music whenever I’m online. Going on my favorite bands’ MySpaces and then clicking on profiles from their top friends, then clicking on random profiles from there, and so on. Scrounging music production forums and looking at user submitted releases and demos. Well, a few days ago I have come across an old, but very solid release through the mnml.nl forums, called “WE ARE 31337″ by the 31337 Records. The compilation is free and 100% legal to download. The track listing is as follows:
Part #1:
01. Someone Else - Submarine Love
02. Azek - Foreign Melody
03. R. - Das innere Zimmer
04. Sebastian Herre & Mike Wall - Monsantoo Sucks
05. 0X7F (Feat. Ladybug) - 11am
06. Topper - Deddy
07. DEN - Dimmer
08. Sebastian Koch - Coffee
Part #2:
01. R. - Desert
02. Sturmrekorder - Clubstuhl
03. Bacalao - Canape / Rouge
04. Either - Heureka
05. 0X7F - With Pleasure
06. Birkemann - Winterschlaf
07. q0×0p - Sai Lace
08. Katzo - Convena [Re-Edit]
Some of my favorites have to be Azek’s “Foreign Melody”, which is a nice groovy, downtempo track, while Sebastian Koch’s “Coffee” is an interesting clash of different samples set over a metronomic clock-ticking beat. You can download this and other neat, free releases from the same label right here.
Do you know of any other great, free minimal techno releases?
